Our Policies

We use plain English here to just say what we mean.

If you have questions, do get in touch please.

policies

Privacy

  • We keep your data private, and protect it.

  • We don't sell it to anyone.

  • We only ask for data we actually need, when we need it.

  • We rely on professional third-party tools to manage data privacy and security.

  • Admin access to your data is restricted to people authorised by Friends for a given activity or role.

  • You can read our full policy here.

Cookies

  • We use cookies like any other website to improve performance for you and to manage our website.

  • Cookies are managed by Wix.com, our website host.

  • You can read our full policy here.

Financial

Volunteers

  • The company is run by at least two volunteer Company Directors who do not get paid for their work or time.

  • Adult Volunteers may be assigned their own by our Company Directors to simplify their (and our) processes on financial expenditure.

  • Student Volunteers might be financially rewarded, incentivised or paid directly for their contribution in the form of prices, benefit in kind or in cash.

Reimbursement

  • Admin, event and volunteer expenses are primarily paid for directly via our bank account or cards.

  • Where that's not possible, Friends will reimburse costs usually within 7 days, larger expenses may require a receipt.

Accepting Donations

  • Making money is a primary goal for us.

  • We (recently started to) optimise for simplicity and transparency.

  • We are promoting cashless payments.

  • We keep financial inclusion in mind.

  • More details about making donations and what we do with those here.

Spending Money

  • Our primary goal is to make profit that we can then pass on Cherry Hinton C of E Primary School ("the school").

  • We donate 100% of our profits for the benefit of the school.

  • Most of our payments for the school come in the form of subsidising students (e.g. bus tickets for excursion), materials (e.g. library books) or helping around the school (e.g. fixing stuff or getting equipment).

  • Our overhead costs to run Friends includes third party software and financial services.

  • We rely mostly on donations and volunteer work to raise funds for the school, but also invest some money back into events if it helps to increase our impact

  • We publish donations to the school here.

Transparency

  • Our financial year begins in April.

  • We report our affairs and finances to Companies House and HMRC.

  • Public records are available here.

  • Historically all records were based on cash payments, which made reporting on them very difficult - moving to more digital solutions we aim to do better in the new school year 2024/25.

  • There's no secret to our finances, please get in touch if you have a question.

  • We have an open community where we discuss financial aspects and payments. We welcome anyone who's interested in the Payments & Finances group, click here to have a look (opens via WhatsApp).
